Purpose
The Online Workbook Database is designed to reinforce classroom
concepts and supplement tutorials by providing a diverse range of
questions/problems for each Outcome. Math Street Workbooks are
interactive teaching and learning tools that give students the
opportunity to learn and review at their own pace. Workbooks are
completed and graded online, with the results recorded in the
individual student’s report card.
Structure
The Online Workbook Database questions/problems are categorized both
by grade level and Outcome, and cover Grades 1 to 8. Each individual
activity is on a printable worksheet, and is designed for at home,
independent use by the student.
Each page identifies the specific Curriculum Outcomes that are applied.
They provide age and grade-level appropriate examples and problems
that review and reinforce specific learning outcomes
Content
The workbooks consist of questions/problems based upon the
Curriculum Outcomes. For example, a student learning fractions
through the tutorials may complete an exercise in the workbook to
strengthen this newly acquired skill.
Quiz questions may be Multiple-Choice, Short Snappers, or Higher
Order, and have one definitive answer.
Quizzes cover each of the four Strands - Numbers, Patterns, Measures
and Geometry, and Statistics (Data Management) and Probability.
Benefits: Teachers can generate an
infinite number of tests based on inputted parameters. Allows customized quizzes
for students who excel in one area, but are deficient in another.
Allows for multiple
testing of the same outcome. Creates and keeps ongoing
Report Cards for all students.
All work book questions/problems are congruent to the National Council of
Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards.
