The modules consist of three types of questions/problems: Multiple-Choice,
Short Snappers, and Higher Order. These questions can be assigned as either
in-class or take-home assignments.
Multiple Choice:
Each module begins with a series of multiple-choice questions that test student
knowledge of a given Outcome. These are single-step questions typically
requiring one calculation
Short Snappers:
These are simplified problems that require one or two-step solutions that
reflect the student’s analysis skills. These questions require a more thorough
understanding of Outcomes.
High Order:
These
are multi-step problems that test the student’s synthesis skills. Higher Order
problems emphasize the necessity to plan steps in advance, and require both in
depth knowledge and analysis. Each problem compels students to synthesize
concepts from multiple Outcomes, and problems may apply to more than one
strand.
All questions/problems are congruent to the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics (NCTM) Standards.
