Math Street - Tutorials

Purpose
Tutorials are teaching and learning tools that give students the opportunity to learn at their own pace and reinforce the course material covered in the classroom.

Structure
Tutorials present mathematical concepts in a dynamic and interactive manner, and incorporate a combination of text and graphics. The tutorials progress fluidly, and allow students to advance at their own pace.

Tutorials are developed sequentially from introduction at the Grade 1 level to competency at the Grade 8 level and are categorized by Outcome.

Content
Tutorials are building blocks that form the foundation to student learning and understanding of General Outcomes. Specific Outcomes are introduced and developed within a General Outcome. Each tutorial is developed as a lesson plan that incorporates areas: Teaching, Activity, and Question.

Teaching:
Teaching pages introduce the concepts and theories that underlie the Outcome.

Activity:
Activity pages are interactive in nature and encourage hands-on participation

Question:
Evaluates student comprehension of the Outcome. Tutorials are based on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards.
